Legacy
A Legacy Born in Thalassery
We, Flashback - Thalassery Veteran Sportsmen Association, are a passionate group of former sportsmen from Thalassery, many of whom proudly represented Kerala state and universities in various national-level sports competitions. Now predominantly in our 60s and retired from careers both in India and abroad, we've come together to create a vibrant community that harnesses our collective experience for social good.
Our Journey
For many years, our professional lives took us to different corners of the world, leading to a natural disconnect from our old friends and sporting circles in India. Upon returning and settling back in Thalassery, we recognized a shared need: a common platform to reconnect, engage in meaningful activities, and combat the isolation that can sometimes accompany retirement.
Since 2015, we've been working as an informal group, officially registering as Flashback - Thalassery Veteran Sportsmen Association under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 (KNR/CA/427/2019) in 2019. Our journey has been driven by a shared belief that staying active and socially connected through creative and purposeful activities is vital for mental well-being and combating depression in our golden years.
Our Mission
Our core mission is to promote sports, support our fellow athletes, and contribute to social development in Thalassery. We achieve this through a range of activities and initiatives:
- Fostering Community: We provide a dedicated platform for former Thalassery sportsmen to socialize, share experiences, and alleviate the stress and loneliness often associated with old age.
- Support and Assistance: We offer moral and financial aid to aged and needy former sportsmen and their families, assisting with medical treatments and improving living conditions.
- Nurturing Sporting Talent: Organize motivational classes, workshops, and sports tournaments for budding sportsmen in Thalassery.
- Community Engagement: We actively collaborate with government and non-government agencies on campaigns against anti-social activities.
